I’ve been neglecting my blog, once again, and since I decided to be an idiot and move my laptop to my dorm first while I’m still stuck at home, it’s going to be a while before I can do any major updates on this site (and I have many planned!).
So until then, bear with me and those annoying sponsored posts that are paying for my clothes/books/makeup addiction. I’d love to get a REAL job, but until the slowass cow of the US department of homeland security can finish processing my work authorization card renewal, I’m not allowed to have one. It’s been 8 months since I sent in the damn thing, and still no reply. Lazy inefficient cows D<Error processing request
I wanted to take advantage of Lumiere‘s summer sale (which is still going on right now!), so I was browsing through their products for things I might be interested in. Turns out that I just might be interested in one too many things, and it was harder to decide what to NOT get rather than what to get. In the end, I bought three eye shimmers (loose mineral eye shadow with shimmer) and a 6-piece mini lumi lips set for a total of $27.
I got the package today, so of course, that means it’s photo sharing time!

You can’t really tell what colors the eye shimmers are, but they’re in glass slipper, taupe, and heiress. The lumi lip colors are in tahitan coral, english rose, crushed velvet, spiced rum, dahlia, and pink ribbon. I haven’t tried out the eye shimmers yet, but I love the packaging they come in. And they were only $4 each for a full-size container! I’m tempted to buy more before the sale is over.
I tried out all the lumi lip colors, and my favorites are english rose and spiced rum. Dahlia is a bold and beautiful red, but it looks like 99-cent lip gloss on my lips. The color isn’t thick enough.
The rest are ok colors. I wanted to buy the mini set so I can find a shade or two that I liked best, then I’ll buy them in full-size.
I’m also tempted to try out their foundation and their finishing powders.
Has anyone been watching the Olympics? Whether you said yes or no to that, I certainly hope you didn’t miss the opening ceremony, which was absolutely awesome and magnificent. China did an amazing job in my opinion, and watching it made me so proud of being Chinese.
For those of you that missed the opening ceremony or would just like to watch it again (because it’s that awesome), here’s a link you can check out:

They also have videos of some of the competitions, so if you missed those on tv, you can watch them there instead. Enjoy

Now that putting on makeup has become a must before I leave the house, I’ve decided that it was time to upgrade my old worn out brushes and invest in some quality ones. I’ve heard and read about all the rave with MAC brushes, especially #239 since I focus primarily (if not only) on the eye when applying makeup. However, it hurts me emotionally (and financially) to think about the fact that each MAC brush is at least $20 and that I’d be needing at least the basic few. If I were to invest, there goes $100 out of my pocket. Not much when my internship is currently paying zilch.
So I was looking the house and came to the drawers I brought back from college but never bothered putting away (what’s the point when I’m just going to have to pack again when school starts?). Lo and behold, I find 3 double-ended makeup brushes in there that I bought a while ago from CVS. They felt really nice compared to my old brushes and were made of authentic hairs and fibers, so I thought, heck, why not?
Now it’s been a month since all of that happened, and these brushes have been absolutely amazing. They’re by Essence of Beauty, and you can only buy them at CVS stores. I got the 3 duo-ended brushes in a set for less than $10 I think, and they’ve been so amazing that I went out today and got crease brush duo set ($5) and a duo-ended smoky-wide eye brush ($4). So again, that’s 4 brushes with less than $10.
My favorites so far are the blush brush and the brushes I got today. Like I said earlier, I only do eye makeup. I don’t use powder or foundation or anything like that, so I haven’t gotten around to trying many of the other brushes yet. But the blush brush is very soft and picks up my Nars blush quite well and gives my cheeks a nice subtle color. And it feels so soft on my skin!
As for the crease duo brush and smoky-wide eye duo brush, they are amazing. I tried them out with my MAC pigment samples today, and a little goes a LONG way. The crease brushes pick up the colors extremely well, and I used the smoky-wide eye to blend, which it did beautifully. So I couldn’t help myself but to take a picture of these lovely brushes and blog about them!
