2010: A reflection of the past 365 days

For my first post in 2011, I feel somewhat obligated to reflect on this past year, especially since so much has happened. Even now, I find it somewhat hard to believe that 2010 is over. Here is the year in a nutshell

My mom was diagnosed with cancer in January 2010, and finished her chemo treatment in August.
A close family friend and my aunt were also diagnosed with cancer last year.
I broke up and got back together (3 months later) with my current boyfriend.
I reconnected with some old friends.
I lost touch with others.
I made lots of new friends.
I grew closer with my current friends.
I applied for grad school.
I earned $1780 in cash + $81 in Amazon.com gift cards from blogging, tweeting, reading e-mails, playing games, and searching ¹

2010 was a very eventful year, to say the least, filled with some of the happiest and saddest moments of my life. And if I’ve learned anything that year, it’s that you never really know what you have until it’s gone. I thought I was going to lose my mom, I thought I was going to lose my boyfriend², and that was when I realized just how important they were to me and how much I needed them.

We started dating in spring of 2009, but we've been on and off twice since then
And yeah, I was surprised at how much I made in total, though I ended up spending all of it

My grandmother was also diagnosed with Cancer in June of this year. It was a complete surprise because she went to the hospital for another reason and they did an X-ray and found the Cancer. It was a stage one so they were able to operate on it and they did a few precautionary chemo treaments. The treatments made her really sick so they decided to stop it and she is doing much better now! She's really lucky!

Good thing they caught the cancer early and she's ok now! Usually when most people find out, it's already stage III or IV

That is a really good lesson you learned. I've learned that lesson and repeated number of times and it's still happening today.

Even though I say this now, I feel like I still might make a similar mistake in the future Sometimes it takes more than one incident for us to fully learn from them, though I hope I won't have to go through this again.

Yes, I think it's a great mindset to have for the future. You should just always remember not to do anything that you'll regret later or that might get you into too much trouble. Actually "think" before you do anything.

That is a lot, a lot of good and a lot of bad. DX I don't want to reflect back on my 2010 year too much because I had a lot of bad things happen. I pray that 2011 is nicer to the both of us.
