A most eventful return

Hi everyone, I’m finally back to blogging! I would’ve blogged sooner, but coming back on the night of August 26th, I had to deal with jetlag, the surgical scar on my throat1, unpacking, finish setting up my new place, and adjusting to my new cat, all before classes start on the 30th.

Needless to say, I definitely didn’t manage to do all those in 4 days. I still have 1 suitcase left to unpack, and I did as much as sort out the kitchen counter. I still have boxes and crap lying around, and classes aren’t helping. At least my scar is healing well and I have no more problems moving my head :/

So surgery, school, cat, and cleaning aside, something else happened recently that really just made this trip back super peachy *sarcasm*. I was driving home from my first day of classes, feeling great about how well the day went. I stopped at the red light, was singing along to the radio, when BAM.

That's right, BAM. Ok, maybe not that bad, but still, BAM.

SOME HUGE-ASS TRUCK F**KING REAR-ENDED MY CAR! I don’t even understand how that happened. I was parked there. At a red light. It’s mind boggling.

So in a nutshell, my beloved car is now in a repair shop with damages around at least $50002, and for the 3 weeks I’ll have to drive a Chevy Malibu. Don’t get me wrong, the Malibu is nice, except:

  • There are too many buttons, and they’re all placed differently. That made me damn confused.
  • The mileage is absolutely TERRIBLE.
  • I don’t do well with large cars :(

So there’s my first week back to the US for you. Eventful, no?

 Error processing request

  1. I’ve had hyperthyroidism for way too long, so I had to get part of my thyroid removed on the 19th
  2. The appraiser from my insurance company said it pretty much have totaled. Of all the vehicles that could’ve hit me, it had to be a truck

    Welcome back!

    I'm sorry you had a truck rear-end your car. Sounds pretty bad… and expensive too.

    I'm sorry to hear about the accident but at least you are safe. I guess the truck driver must be drunk, Anyway, I wish you recover soon from your surgery and have a great semester!

    Lucky the BAM wasn't like in the picture. That would be crazy. (o_o)

    I'm so sorry to hear about your car but I'm glad that you're okay! Welcome back to the US :)

    Welcome back! I hope you're recovery well from your surgery! I also have a thyroid disease (hypo instead of hyper), and it often worries me =/

    Oh no, that sucks about your car! I'm glad you weren't hurt though. That happened to me once, though luckily it was just another car. I was waiting at a red light and got rear ended. People don't pay attention sometimes, sigh.

    Good luck with unpacking and classes! I hope no more bad things happen ^^ ;;

    OMG… I'm glad you're okay O_O That must have been very scary. I'm new with driving so I would have been very traumatized lol OR turn into an aggressive-angry monster and start driving my car in reverse to KA-POW that person behind me xD ;

    Ahh so many people get back from China or any Asian country only a few days before classes start. I really wonder how they deal with the jetlag. I got back August 10th last year and started university on the 21st and I was nervous.

    For one second I thought you had witnessed a crash and snapped a photo of it … it's fortunate that you are okay because when hugeass trucks rear-end you it can get pretty scary … good thing he didn't try to hit and run, right?

    I'd hate to drive a different car. When our beloved SUV got hit by an old lady who also tried to hit and run, we got a wagon from the insurance and it was so difficult for me to drive.

    Recover well and welcome back to the US! =)

    Wow! I'm sorry to hear about your car! These types of things always worry me when stopping. I get nervous around huge trucks on the highway and when they are pulling up from behind.

    I'm glad that you're alright though, but poor car! :(

    First of all, welcome back. I have been so MIA lately that I really had no idea that you were going to have surgery and stuff. I'm glad it went well and the scar is fading. xD

    That sucks about the car though. What a major bummer. DX My sister drives a Malibu, it is a nice car. It's the one we take on con trips. It's not super big though so I have no idea if the size changes on the years or something. I tend to really like chevy cars.

    I got back to the US and the next day I had to go to orientation! 2 of the days were canceled because of the hurricane but I started school a few days later. I hardly had time to prepare so I know what you mean.

    Omg a truck?! Thank god you're okay! Truck crashes can be so scary. Poor car though. =(

    Nice to hear you're back to blogging again! Welcome back Jenny :) But, i'm sorry to hear that your car got rear-ended!! At least, you were safe right? $5000 worth of damages sounds terrible, but thank gosh you were okay!! Hopefully you feel better after removing your thyroid!! <3

    Omg I'm glad you're okay! I saw a video of this hugeee truck smashing into this little car at super high speeds because he wasn't paying attention to the traffic jam in front of him.. and the car and it's two passengers totally got squished. It was sooo sad.

    Ouch! That's absolutely terrible about your poor car… I'm really glad that you're okay though! That truck driver should have been paying attention!

    I always seem to plan mine, if i know I'm going to wear a cute outfit I plan the moment lol .

    Welcome back to blogging, I'm trying to come back, but it's hard because I have so much comments to reply lol .

    So sorry to hear of the accident! :C Glad you are well enough to blog and that you can fix the car (hopefully). The thyroid surgery sounds major–shivering just thinking about somebody cutting on my neck.

    Praying for a timely and complete car fix and a quick recovery from your surgery! :)
