Buying Suitcases in Airports

I remember some comedian on TV the other day saying how he thought it was so silly for there to be luggage stores in the airport. I mean, what are people going to do, carry all their clothes in their hands so they can buy luggage in the airport to put it in? Seems silly to me too, yet I see these stores all the time, especially ones selling Samsonite luggage.
