Goodbye Windows, Hello Apple!
Yes, I’ve officially switched over to the Mac side (my Window loving friends call it the dark side, 
)! As some of you might know, my poor yet poop of a laptop died on me the other day and refused to boot. The recovery disk that came with the laptop didn’t work, probably because it was a burned copy. Ghetto much?
Anyways, I’ve been eying the Macbook Pro for a while now, since it’s one of the top recommended laptops for doing design work, and the day came sooner than I expected that I would get my hands on one of these babies. I ended up getting the 15″ Macbook Pro with 2.53GHz and 4gb DDR 3 ram. I was able to get the college student discount, which means $100 off the laptop PLUS a free Ipod Touch and all-in-one printer. Needless to say, I’ve never been this happy that a computer of mine crashed 
Some people say Mac is overrated, but those that use it love it. I don’t blame them, but then again, to quote a friend, “any computer I buy would’ve been better than the piece of crap from before”. Touche. Now I’m just waiting to get the salvaged files from my old laptop before I can fully go back to designing

That is funny, the dark side haha. My first computer was a Mac, but i am still with windows, can’t seem to get away from it. I have thought about getting a Mac though.

But honestly after using windows and dealing with all the crashing and viruses and other headaches, macs are so wonderful. I hope you like it!

I use to use Mac when I was co-editor of my old school newspaper. I was not impressed then. Tried out a friend’s laptop at a convention last month and still was not. Oh well, “to each his own” they say.
I like a good Linux with Ubuntu these days.

I’ve heard nothing but good about Mac but I’m a windows person. Lol. Someday (when I have the extra money), I will buy myself one and give it a try.
I think most laptops are crap period. You’re lucky if you get a good one. My previous one always overheated. It burned out 3 of my adapters that I brought for it. I got a new laptop, no troubles. All computers are not created equal.

I love my macbook pro, and have only had a few problems which support fixed asap! So congrats on the new laptop 
My boyfriend hates macs and calls them overrated, but he’s never really tried nor cared to attempt to even use one.

Too true; anything would be better than the previous computer. Unless that computer is worse than the one you had before.
I’ve never been able to handle Macs, mainly because of the OS. Although I never understood why everyone thinks Macs run design programs better. I would think a program would be able to run on any suitable OS (Win, OSX, Linux) as long as the computer itself meets the requirements. But I could be wrong here, my time with Macs is pretty limited.
Still, congrats on a faster machine!

I use a mac myself and do love it dearly – but the silly war betweeen windows- and mac OS users is just too damn silly to be bothered about, don’t you think?

I totally agree with you! A computer better be better in the one you had before (: and that’s all that matters. I’m a MAC and Windows person, myself. They each serve their purpose…

I’ve never liked Macs because of my experience with them at school. I’m too dumb and used to Windows to figure out the menu,
. I do like the white laptops, though. I wish Windows would come out with a completely white laptop like Apple. I really don’t know why I have such a fascination with white laptops, but what the hay.

Welcome to the dark side! I use a Macbook at home too. And after I made the switch, I’m never switching back to Windows (unless I have to, like right now where I’m at work).

Like Trish, I’ve never really liked Macs because of my bad experience with them in school. We had iMacs in middle school with OS 7 on them (they later upgraded to OS X Jaguar by the time I was in 8th grade). Our network was slow and I was never a fan of the Mac interface.
Nowadays, I opt for using Linux since it’s far faster and more customizable, haha. Windows is way too slow; it’s all eyecandy and not much power. Unfortunately, Microsoft has that nasty psuedo-monopoly on the market so it’s what everyone uses *shrug* Ah well, to each his own, I guess. I -am- a fan of the iTouch, though, so congrats for getting one of those ;D

Ah, your so lucky! I promised myself that once I’m older and have my own job, the first thing I would buy is a macbook. Hopefully it happens soon!
I’m quite envious of mac-users.. But one of my teachers in school is looking to convert all the computers in the whole school into macs, so there is hope that I will at least be able to use one! haha

Windows in some ways has good sides but I still prefer Apple because I’ve heard I won’t experience hangs and viruses if I use one. Too bad the free iPod touch isn’t available in the country.
