First things first: I love this song, I do. Everything except the damn lyrics, which I try to ignore every time I hear it (you can listen to it here). Why? Because it’s DAMN STUPID1.

Seriously? You cheat on someone you claim to love, yet somehow expect them not to leave you, because hey, one day, maybe just one day, you’ll become a super star and be living large! I’m sorry, the only thing “becoming a super star and living large” translates to me is “I’m gonna be super famous and rich and then cheat some more!“. If you thought you and her were really meant to be forever and you wanted no one else but her, then why would you cheat on her in the first place? No shit it wasn’t clever, as a matter of fact, it was downright idiotic! The only part I can agree with is that “things ain’t right“, because damn right they’re not. How can you expect to cheat, then write some silly lyrics about your stupidity and expect everything to be ok? And this isn’t just for guys; girl cheaters aren’t any higher up the food chain in my opinion.

I don’t have any concrete experiences of being cheated on but I do know for a fact that it’s wrong, alright. I hate it when guys cheat on their girlfriends. I don’t see the point, really. If you’re committed with someone, why do something stupid like that? If you sincerely love the person, no matter how much temptations there are around you, you should easily be able to shrug it off. Tsk.

Lol I agree. This song is stupid, although i liked it for a while because the music and melody was nice. I usually notice the melody of the music first and than some time later the lyrics filter in.
Murderer by Rihanna I think is the most dumbest song ever created. This song makes me mad and irritated! I mean, if you don’t want to hurt him, either stop cheating on him or break up with him. DUMB A$$. T__T

I’m the same as you, it was the melody that attracted me to the song at first, and the fact that it was on Gossip Girl made me ooh and aah it even more. Until I looked up the damn lyrics.
I agree with Rihanna’s song, it’s even worse since the melody wasn’t even all that catchy in my opinion -_-

I was totally ranting about this song last night to my boyfriend, lol.
I hate this song. The melody is really catchy, and at first I found myself humming along, and it was hard for me to catch all the lyrics that the girls were singing, so I didn’t really think much of it. Then I started hearing it over and over, and actually understood what they were saying.
It’s just such a low class thing to say. You get caught, and instead of owning up to it, say, I was doing it for you. I love YOU. WE were meant to be together. That is just bull. And the girl that falls for that is just causing herself more pain, and the whole thing is just not romantic or sweet at all. Why is this song such a hit?!

Like you said, it does have a catchy melody, which is why I still listen to it (yes, as stupid as the lyrics are). It’s funny how the song has been out for a while, but I never really noticed the moronic lyrics till now :/

Haha – my husband does this a LOT. He loves a song until I ruin it for him and tell him what the lyrics are saying. He just gets hooked on the tune.
