First things first: I love this song, I do. Everything except the damn lyrics, which I try to ignore every time I hear it (you can listen to it here). Why? Because it’s DAMN STUPID¹.

Seriously? You cheat on someone you claim to love, yet somehow expect them not to leave you, because hey, one day, maybe just one day, you’ll become a super star and be living large! I’m sorry, the only thing “becoming a super star and living large” translates to me is “I’m gonna be super famous and rich and then cheat some more!“. If you thought you and her were really meant to be forever and you wanted no one else but her, then why would you cheat on her in the first place? No shit it wasn’t clever, as a matter of fact, it was downright idiotic! The only part I can agree with is that “things ain’t right“, because damn right they’re not. How can you expect to cheat, then write some silly lyrics about your stupidity and expect everything to be ok? And this isn’t just for guys; girl cheaters aren’t any higher up the food chain in my opinion.
