Monthly essentials

If you’re a girl, you’ll know what I mean when I say I LOATHE that time of the month. Yes, THAT time of the month (please tell me you know what I’m referring to). It wasn’t so bad when I was younger, because I never really had any of the side effects (aka cramps, bloating, mood swings, you name it), but now that I’m getting older, these side effects are popping up like daisies in the spring time. As of now, I’m an one of the many unfortunate gals suffering the full-blown effect of the big P, and these babies are what keeps me sane and alive during that week of omg-I’d-rather-go-to-hell-instead:

Midol Extended Relief
Omg, what would I do without this stuff? During the first 2 days, you can usually find me curled up in bed in pain and tears, but this baby relieves me from my cramping nightmares like none other. But for some reason, only the extended relief one works (the one with the red packaging and blue pills). I bought Midol Complete (the blue box with white pills) once and almost OD’ed myself trying to get the damn pills to work.

Always Infinity
Seriously, like the advertisements suggest, this product is MAGIC. I hate the disgusting diaper feeling you get when you wear pads, especially with the thicker ones and um, the flow is heavy. But Always Infinity feels so light and nonexistent, even when I use the heavy version! Also, there’s not yucky feeling because the gunk just disappears (I’m not even joking here) into the pad! Never again will I use any other pads except for my beloved Infinity.

Tampax Pearl
So damn comfortable, you can’t even feel it, which is a little dangerous for someone forgetful like me. But the point is, no diaper feeling, no awkward butt bulges, period. What I used to use before Always came out with Infinity, but it still gets some love from me just because well, it’s damn comfortable!

Chocolate
The one time of the month we can indulge in chocolate to our heart’s content and not get shit about it. But the truth is, the ingredients in chocolate (or rather, dark chocolate) has been proven to be beneficial to women during their monthly woes. I personally don’t feel a physical difference, but is it a comfort food? Hell yes.

So these are my monthly essentials that I just might die without. What are yours? :)

Never heard of Always Infinity before. I don’t think we have them here in Sweden. I hope they will release them here as well so I can try them out ^^ .

Hopefully they’ll release it there soon, because it’s just too darn amazing to miss out!

I’m opposite of you! It was so bad for me when I was younger, but it’s so much lighter and less painful for me now. I like Tampax Pearl too! It’s definitely my preferred tampon. I haven’t tried Always Infiniti though. Maybe I should look into it.

    • Mimi says:

Oh lucky! I always heard the pain is related to our life style…I guess not getting enough sleep and eating unhealthy is probably why I’m in so much pain every month :/

I totally understand what you mean. It like nothing when I was young (except yucky-ness), but nowadays instead of like everyone else who experience the pain during the first few days, mine happen once at the beginning and once nearing the end (day 3 or 4). And they hurt like hell. But since my mom have this thing against taking pills or whatnot during this period I usually just drink these herbal soups she makes to kind-of calm the pain down.

Never tried Always Infiniti, but I definitely will after I finish my numerous bags of regular Always pads lol . Tampons scare me, although I know they are like the best thing ever, but still. D:

And yes, who doesn’t love chocolate?

    • Mimi says:

Ouch, I feel you. My mom is against pills and such too, so she makes this ginger tea, which I guess is somewhat soothing, but it doesn’t do much for the pain :/
Tampons scared me before too, but once you get the hang of it, it’s awesome :D

I’m in the same boat, I had virtually no symptoms when I was younger, and I thought I was lucky. Then all of the sudden it’s full blown misery the first 2 days. So bad I don’t even sleep. And that’s with the gift of midol. But if that means there’s no baby on the way, I guess it’s worth suffering through lol

    • Mimi says:

Lol, talk about looking on the bright side! Yeah, sometimes I do start to flip out when it’s late or whatnot, and for once, I’m actually glad when it’s that time of the month.

  5. Charlie says:

I’ve found it’s getting easier as I get older though I still get a lot of pain every so often.

I find chocolate helps physically, it eases the pain, though only if the pain’s not too bad. And hot water bottles. Failing those I’ll get through a load of paracetamol, it worries me really.

    • Mimi says:

Oh yes, hot water bottles! Those things work really well too, but they’re not recommended if you might have tumors/cysts (or something along those lines)

  6. Cindy says:

Actually I’m scared of always infinity. I’m using it now but I don’t feel it’s as good as the other Always products. I’m always worried whether it’s going to leak or what. And YES I am wearing it properly (followed the arrow too). I agree it’s light and nice but I become some paranoid freak after using it.

    • Mimi says:

I felt that way at first too because I’m so used to the pads being thick and all over my butt, and Infinity is anything but that. That’s what makes it so amazing though, it works just as well without being uncomfortable at all!

  7. Veronica says:

I think all women agree that that time is just the pits! The worst is when you’re living with a bunch of chicks and you all sync up! I hate how that happens!

    • Mimi says:

Yes! The syncing up is mad annoying. Maybe if the time wasn’t so miserable, I’d think it’s pretty cool

  8. Renate says:

Yep, it sucks… And if you think it isn’t bad enough now, try being on the pill for nigh on 10 years and then go off it. It is a whole new hell (or at least it is for me). I would have stayed home from work had we not scheduled job interviews for that day, so I kinda had to be there… But yeah, it was that bad. :(

Thank goodness for chocolate though! :D

    • Mimi says:

Yikes, I can only imagine how hard it was to adjust after going off the pill :( It sucks being out when it’s that time of the month.
