Packing woes

One thing I hate about moving every 4-6 years is the packing. You’d be surprised at how much stuff you accumulate over the years. You’d think our family would’ve mastered packing by now, but even now, we still flip each time. My parents are literally pulling their hair out, since they have less than 2 days left to pack up their things. My mom still hasn’t tackled the kitchen yet, and God knows how much stuff she has stored in the cupboards.

As for me, I’m not flipping out yet since I have until July 19th, but I am trying to make an effort to clean out my room. Yeah, I’m trying to try to clean, it’s sad, but when you have as much crap as I do, you really don’t want to bother with them.

My room at the moment. This is rather embarrassing to post, but it helps get the point across, lol .

The really only neat/clean area in my room right now is my vanity, which I just reorganized a few days ago. Why I did that, I don’t know. It’s just gonna get all packed up in a couple days anyways :( But I can’t wait until I move… this junkyard of a room is getting intolerable, not to mention a pain to sleep in.

As much as I hate moving and packing, I am looking forward to my new place. No more carpeted floors1, a bigger room, a walk-in closet, and my own bathroom :D Error processing request

  1. I think they’re gross and extremely unhygienic, not to mention a pain in the ass to clean

The last time I moved was when I was literally in 2nd or 3rd grade, so I never really experienced moving and packing because when you're a kid, your parents do it for you (lol).

However, I was very close to moving to Canada (I live in the US) recently, and the thought of packing AND being able to take only a certain amount of stuff was a complete nightmare to me. I'm not moving to Canada anymore, so I'm happy to keep my stuff here for this time around. ^_^

Good look on packing! I'm sure it's a pain right now, but when you're finally settled in to your new place, it'll be surely worth it. =)

I've never actually moved. I've always lived in the same house except for the first two years I dormed for undergrad. Besides that, I don't have much experience, but it looks and sounds like fun :]

I have been in the same place since I was 10. I would love to move and get out of the place I live in now but convincing my family to move would take a miracle.

I'm kind of relieved knowing that I'm not the only one who has the same dilemma; I'm currently in the process of moving back to NY from Australia and it looks like I'll never be ready by the day I fly out, haha. Good luck with the packing!!

I know what you mean. When I was 11-15 I moved a total of 4 times. I had to throw a lot of my accumulations out.

Your new place sounds way better. I'm pro own-bathroom and anti carpeting. They certainly are gross.

    Kudos for having Macbook pro.

Wow, that's a lot of stuff! I used to move every two years until high school because my dad was in the military, so I'm very much used to it. Something I've learned over the years is to have what you need and only a few things that you like. I also started reading ZenHabits.com a few years ago and pared down a lot of my "stuff." It's refreshing not to have too much! On the other hand, if you're like my younger sister, you may like a messy room. haha

Good luck with the move! It's always fun to settle into a new place and your new place sounds wonderful. :)

Moving is always a pleasantly rewarding experience yet the process of it can be hectic too. Your new room sounds really nice though. Spacious, walk in closet, & your own bathroom! Sounds like a good deal~~ Hope you get settled quick :) )

Ah packing is always a pain, but for some strange reason, I really enjoy unpacking. I find it therapeutic. Lol.

I have hardwood floors, and I have to sweep it every day since you can always clearly see all the dust and hair that's on the floor. But yeah, at least it is cleaner than carpet. :)

Oh that sounds like it sucks moving every 4 to 6 years. I hate moving every year since I'm an undergrad and I just moved from the dorms into an apartment for the summer and soon a house for a year! A personal bathroom is SUCH a plus. I love having my own bathroom ^-^

I feel you on the carpeting. Why do you guys move so much (jw)? I've lived in the same house practically my whole life. And no worries on your room, my room is TONS worse (trust me there is no floor). Your new room sounds like it's going to be lovely though :)
