I’m not sure how many of you have heard of Lin Yu Chun, but he was the recent singing sensation of Youtube, with millions of views on his famous video of him singing “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston:

Anyways, when I heard this, I thought this kid was off-the-top amazing, and my friend kept saying he had the voice of an angel, blessed by the gods of music. Of course, the only reason I was so psyched about this kid (well, not kid, since he’s actually older than me…can’t tell, huh), to the point where I’d blog about him is because he’s from Taiwan :D I mean, it’s not everyday someone from Taiwan becomes a sensation worldwide, and especially since he’s got talent, too. He has been invited on The Ellen Show and will be appearing on George Lopez’ tonight. I really loved the short interview on Ellen, especially what the message he gave to people who have been bullied:

There is a reason for everyone’s existence in this world, so be confident. The best way to get back at them[bullies] is to become more successful than they are.

Oh I love him, he is too adorable :3 Not many people can pull off that I-had-my-mother-put-a-bowl-on-my-head haircut, but I love him in it lol. Doesn’t he remind you of Susan Boyle a bit? No wonder people dub him as the Taiwanese Susan Boyle1.

  1. Well, some people on Youtube also dub him as the fat Chinese boy who can sing, but that’s just not very nice -_-

I remember this guy. He was sensational and I believe that he did win the competition if I remember correctly. But yeah, if I didn’t see the video and just heard the audio, I would have bet my savings that is was Whitney Houston and not a dude.

Actually, the ironic thing is that after he became a hit, he lost the competition the next day! But I’m sure the fame he has gained as a result would’ve been more than winning the competition could ever bring him.
And yes, he does sound like a girl, doesn’t he? lol

I’m sure alot of people know about him now since I see people talking about him everywhere on the internet hahas.

Anyways, yeah, he has an amazing voice. I initially really did think he was a girl. Pity he didn’t win but oh well, he’s famous now anyways.

It’s so cool that he was featured on Ellen. Can’t wait to see more Asians featured on that show hahas.

OMG, I really can’t believe that that voice was coming from him. But then again, I felt the same way about Susan Boyle. He really has a talent, and I hope the entertainment world is more kind to him than Susan. And that is a hard song to sing; kudos to him for the attempt, even though he ruled at it!

  4. Veronica says:

OMG I heard him a few weeks ago and was AMAZED at the sound coming out of his mouth. He is totally awesome!

  5. Ai~ says:

He *is* darn good! If I close my eyes and just listen to him, he doesn’t even sound MALE. 0_o;; I’m not crazy about the haircut, but you’re right, he DOES remind me of the Boylester. :D

I know exactly about being proud about people who get featured on international shows and were recognized for their talent. When Charisse (Pempengco) was invited by Ellen some years back, then eventually signed on by Oprah and David Foster, I guess most Filipinos felt the same way. :) )

When I first saw that video, I didn’t expect him to have that kind of voice at all! His interview was really cute though, and I love his message on bullies too. That’s too bad he didn’t win, but I’ve noticed sometimes the winners don’t even do well outside of the competition. He’s probably better off with this kind of fame!

  11. Krystal says:

All my asian friends are going on about him on Facebook. He really is amazing!!! He is a little like Susan Boyle as he “doesn’t have the looks” but has an amazing voice.

I wonder how old he is. He looks around 14-16.

    • Jenny says:

He’s actually 24, believe it or not. I was really surprised when I found out as well, because he does look really young.

  12. Brooke Young says:

Susan Boyle may not be a very good looking woman but she has an angelic voice. |

  13. Grysh says:

I saw this video a lot of time in facebook. haha

some of my friends call him the Chinese boy with no eyes xD

    • Jenny says:

That’s just like the people who call him the fat Chinese boy, and both are rude in my opinion.

  14. Becca says:

i think he’s probably the only one on earth that can sport that hair style and look cool haha.. good for him :) glad he’s famous for this, hope he sings more :D

  15. Ivy says:

  16. Sean Perry says:

I have seen the performance of Susan Boyle and it is never short of excellent. Definitely one of the best voices out there. .-

  17. stepherz says:

I love that quote. How inspiring. Getting back at bullies by being more successful. I think that really is true. I always believed the jerky jocks/cheerleaders will be humbled when they go to work and find they work for the nerd they bullied in high school!

He seems like such a neat person. :)

  18. TiaraLynn says:

Awe, His voice is sooo beautiful.
I love it. & he does have a voice of an angel. Cute, I feel like crying. Lol

  19. Justin says:

Wow that boy made me feel so insecure about my own singing. XD He’s AMAZING!!! I liked his message about being more successful than bullies. Very inspiring!
