Ever since getting together with the boyfriend, I feel like I’ve seen more movies in 2 months than I have all of last year. As a matter of fact, I’ve seen so many that it wouldn’t be right unless I write a review about them.  And since I no longer have the star rating plugin, I will rate them using smiley faces. Yay.

The Hangover:D :D :D :D :D
Just saw this last night, and it was fucking hilarious. Yes, so hilarious it required the need to cuss. Sorry kids, but this movie isn’t for you anyways. Back on topic: if you don’t mind seeing naked guys (and I’m talking um-I-see-his-ding-dongs naked) and you like crude humor (still humor, and pretty good stuff too), then go see this one. You won’t regret it.

UP:) :) :) :) :)
Some people cried, a lot of people laughed, but all agree that this is a good movie. Classic Disney/Pixar film (think Wall-e and Finding Nemo), but a few complained about the non-kid-friendly theme in the film, aka death. I mean, it wasn’t anything gruesome or depressing, or at least I didn’t think so. For someone who cries easily, I didn’t get watery eyes at all during the film. I did laugh though, a LOT. Good stuff.

Star Trek – o_o o_o o_o o_o o_o
I hate the tv series, I hate sci-fi, but damn, this was a good movie. Maybe because I found the actor who played James Kirk extremely attractive? Who knows. But I know it was good because my friend, who hates sci-fi/action/technology things more than I do, thought it was good. I used o_o in the ratings because it was such an epic film. Ha. But seriously, it was epic.

Angels & Demons – o_o o_o o_o o_o
If you’re into religion, mystery, with a bit of action, this is your film. It was pretty good, a lot better than The Da Vinci Code I thought. But then again, I never read the book for this film, so maybe that’s why? Either way, it was good enough to picque my interest in the book, and you can never go wrong with Tom Hanks. Except for The Da Vinci Code. Go read the book for that instead.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop – -_- -_- -_- -_- -_-
Oh my God, kill me. Watching this on DVD was the most unproductive and worthless 90 minutes of my life. That’s how bad this movie was. It wasn’t funny at all. As a matter of fact, it was kind of pathetic actually, like I felt sorry for the guy. But then I’m reminded of the fact that while he’s raking in loads of money for a bad film, I’m stuck watching this crap wanting to kill myself, and I began to feel sorry for myself.

I really want to see The Hangover, but I think I’ll wait for it to come out on video.. wait DVD. lol
anyway why would anybody consider death non-kid-friendly? Death is a part of life. Plus it’s pretty common for somebody to die in Dinsey Movies. example- Mufasa. and he didn’t just die. He was straight up murdered by his own brother.

A lot of the people who didn’t like Up said that in their reviews, said the movie traumatized their kids and made them cry. I thought it was pretty lame myself too, but eh, some people are just like that. :/

  2. Justin says:

Up had me crying in the first fifteen minutes. The whole mini story with the wife dying was so sad yet so sweet at the same time. I saw it in 3D and there wasn’t really much of a difference… lol.

    • Mimi says:

I figured that’s the scene that made people cry, and I do agree, it was a very bittersweet moment. A lot of movies are coming out in 3D now…I’d like to see Transformers 2 in 3D :D

  3. Gel says:

The only movies i’m familiar with are Up, Star Trek, and Angels and Demons. I haven’t seen Up and Star Trek yet though. Too bad. I’ve seen Angels and Demons and liked it better than the Da Vinci Code! Hehe. Looking forward to seeing Up once it’s released here! :)

    • Mimi says:

Did you read both books too? I noticed a lot of people liked Angels & Demons the movie better, but not the book.

  4. Infektia says:

I’m going to see The Hangover tomorrow or next weekend. I’m looking forward to it! :D

    • Mimi says:

Have fun! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

  5. Justin says:

haha thanks for the comment…. fortunately, we were done eating.

  6. Cindy says:

“Ever since getting together with the boyfriend, I feel like I’ve seen more movies in 2 months than I have all of last year.” <– omg it's exactly the same for me. I think I've seen more movies in 2 months than I have in a LIFETIME.

But pretty accurate reviews here! Makes me want to do a movie review post too, maybe that'll be my next post. =)

    • Mimi says:

Hahaha, I guess I’m not alone then. But then again, there is only so much to do around where I live, and with so many good movies out, it’s inevitable. I will definitely do another one in a month or so, after I go watch another 10 movies :P

Hiya. I’m so happy you did this review. I heard “UP” was a good movie. I love the trailer. Especially when the old guy talks to the ostrich. hahaha. Was it an ostrich? Okay don’t spoil it for me. Lmao. I wanna see Hangover & Trekky. I’m not a huge fan of trek either but for some odd reason I collected their cups from burger king. You know, the collectibles. Yes, I’m now a fan of trek (well just the movie coming up anyways!) Honestly, I laughed at the Mall Cop one. But, it wasn’t my favorite of his. I’m not an A&D type of gal. I might see it though when it comes out on Netflix. :) Great post!

    • Mimi says:

Glad you liked the reviews :) The big bird was…a big bird (fail). I don’t know what it was actually, but that bird was my favorite character. I won’t spoil anything else for you, so you can find out the rest for yourself. Happy movie watching!

  8. Bee says:

I loved Up! lol I did start to cry when they couldn’t have kids, and pretty much until she died, then I was a happy watcher again.

Mall Cop was def suicide on tape. If my sister hadn’t been so into it, I would have probably stopped after the first half hour. lol

    • Mimi says:

Hahaha, suicide on tape is correct, not to mention a waste of money. Oh well, a lesson learned. :/

  9. Sapphire says:

really? hangover looked kinda lame to me, but i might check it out now ;]

YES! STAR TREK and UP were GREAT!!! best movies so far this year 8D

    • Mimi says:

Trailers can be deceiving, as I too didn’t think much of the movie at first, but I’m glad I saw it.

  10. Shur says:

It’s some sort of terrier, I forgot the specific breed haha

  11. Lily says:

I live in China and at the moment we only have Star Trek in theatres (not to mention in CHINESE). I didn’t really understand it at first when I saw it in the theatres since my Chinese isn’t that good but I though it was a good movie…okay, mainly because Chris Pine was really hot haha. My dad got me a (pirate) DVD of it (pirate stuff is too normal in China for anyone to care) so I watched it in english the second time. I thought it was a pretty good movie but not something that improves with the second watch.

    • Mimi says:

Was it dubbed in Chinese? That would’ve definitely been pretty bad :( But yes, Chris Pine is really hot, that’s what got me wanting to watch the movie to begin with!

  12. Kim says:

Not seen any of those movies but I do want to see Up (if it’s pixar I see it) and Star Trek. :)

    • Mimi says:

So far all Pixar movies have been amazing, and Up is certainly no exception. Star Trek was awesome too.

  13. Honeul says:

ooh, you’ve seen UP already? I wanna watch that movie too. I love cartoon movies.

    • Mimi says:

UP was adorable, Pixar & Disney never fails :)

  14. Amanda says:

You’ve seen all the movies that I want to see! Like you, I’m not a SciFi buff and I never cared for Star Trek, but I really want to see the movie!

    • Mimi says:

When that movie has got people like us wanting to see it and actually liking it, you know it was one heck of a movie! I’m sure you’ll definitely enjoy it.
