Summer Movie Reviews

Ever since getting together with the boyfriend, I feel like I’ve seen more movies in 2 months than I have all of last year. As a matter of fact, I’ve seen so many that it wouldn’t be right unless I write a review about them.  And since I no longer have the star rating plugin, I will rate them using smiley faces. Yay.

The Hangover:D :D :D :D :D
Just saw this last night, and it was fucking hilarious. Yes, so hilarious it required the need to cuss. Sorry kids, but this movie isn’t for you anyways. Back on topic: if you don’t mind seeing naked guys (and I’m talking um-I-see-his-ding-dongs naked) and you like crude humor (still humor, and pretty good stuff too), then go see this one. You won’t regret it.

UP:) :) :) :) :)
Some people cried, a lot of people laughed, but all agree that this is a good movie. Classic Disney/Pixar film (think Wall-e and Finding Nemo), but a few complained about the non-kid-friendly theme in the film, aka death. I mean, it wasn’t anything gruesome or depressing, or at least I didn’t think so. For someone who cries easily, I didn’t get watery eyes at all during the film. I did laugh though, a LOT. Good stuff.

I hate the tv series, I hate sci-fi, but damn, this was a good movie. Maybe because I found the actor who played James Kirk extremely attractive? Who knows. But I know it was good because my friend, who hates sci-fi/action/technology things more than I do, thought it was good. I used o_o in the ratings because it was such an epic film. Ha. But seriously, it was epic.

If you’re into religion, mystery, with a bit of action, this is your film. It was pretty good, a lot better than The Da Vinci Code I thought. But then again, I never read the book for this film, so maybe that’s why? Either way, it was good enough to picque my interest in the book, and you can never go wrong with Tom Hanks. Except for The Da Vinci Code. Go read the book for that instead.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop:Q :Q :Q :Q :Q
Oh my God, kill me. Watching this on DVD was the most unproductive and worthless 90 minutes of my life. That’s how bad this movie was. It wasn’t funny at all. As a matter of fact, it was kind of pathetic actually, like I felt sorry for the guy. But then I’m reminded of the fact that while he’s raking in loads of money for a bad film, I’m stuck watching this crap wanting to kill myself, and I began to feel sorry for myself.

I live in China and at the moment we only have Star Trek in theatres (not to mention in CHINESE). I didn’t really understand it at first when I saw it in the theatres since my Chinese isn’t that good but I though it was a good movie…okay, mainly because Chris Pine was really hot haha. My dad got me a (pirate) DVD of it (pirate stuff is too normal in China for anyone to care) so I watched it in english the second time. I thought it was a pretty good movie but not something that improves with the second watch.

Was it dubbed in Chinese? That would’ve definitely been pretty bad :( But yes, Chris Pine is really hot, that’s what got me wanting to watch the movie to begin with!

  2. Kim says:

Not seen any of those movies but I do want to see Up (if it’s pixar I see it) and Star Trek. :)

  3. Honeul says:

ooh, you’ve seen UP already? I wanna watch that movie too. I love cartoon movies.

  4. Amanda says:

You’ve seen all the movies that I want to see! Like you, I’m not a SciFi buff and I never cared for Star Trek, but I really want to see the movie!

    • Mimi says:

When that movie has got people like us wanting to see it and actually liking it, you know it was one heck of a movie! I’m sure you’ll definitely enjoy it.
