Tumbling in the wave

My attempt at being creative with the title to introduce my 2 latest geek-obsessions: Tumblr and Google Wave.

Tumblr

In an effort to improve my Japanese, I decided to start a Japanese blog. I wanted something simple, no fancy features or fluff, preferably remotely hosted, but still fun to use and look at. I considered Livejournal, Blogger, Chyrp, and even Habari, but when I stumbled upon Tumblr (no pun intended), I knew this was it. My Tumblr serves as my daily Japanese journal and every once in a while (more like every day right now, since it’s so fun to use), I post random things on there that I like.

Does anyone else use Tumblr or even better, uses Tumblr and is willing to help me improve my Japanese? :D A cookie for those who say yes!

Google Wave

I got my invite for this a few weeks ago, but I never really got into it because I found it damn confusing, and having to watch a long-ass video to learn the features didn’t help. It wasn’t until a couple days ago my boyfriend got Google Wave as well and explained to me what it was capable of that I went “ahhhhhhh”. But really, this thing is only fun when you have friends on there you actually WANT to talk to, and with the slow invite system (because apparently, Google has too many stamps to lick), this is what happens:

Hahaha. I also recently wrote about Google Wave, but I think your drawing says it better than I ever could!

I’ve been hearing more and more about Google Wave, but still have no idea what it does. I suppose I should go investigate!

And that is a good idea to blog to help your Japanese. I might just do something like that too. It sucks that I don’t get a chance to practice it, especially since I can’t take classes anymore :( I would offer to work together to improve it, but I might just hold you back lol

I use Tumblr for my Project 365 (puyoda.tumblr). I don’t know Japanese though. I wish I did! That’s a language I’ve been wanting to learn.

lol @ the Google Wave drawings. I got an invite too, but I haven’t used it at all.

I have Google Wave and I dunno what to do with it!! I think it’s useful for businesses and stuff but not too much for regular people.

I have started using Google Wave recently but I still haven’t found out a purpose for it. I use it to chat with bloggers sometimes. Besides that, nothing much.

It’s loads really slow as well, took me ages to load a wave with 200 over messages. :(

Hahaha I LOVE that depiction. It is SO TRUE. Also, I feel like Google Wave is almost bleeding edge – I mean, most 20-yos I know are confused by it, and the younger generation have no need for it. So who is going to use it? And for what?

P.S. That Japanese tumblr is a really good idea. I might do that (for Chinese)!

A blog for your Japanese is a good idea. I took 2 years of Japanese in college and stopped after that. After around 200 kanji, they all started looking the same to me.

I’ve heard of Google Wave, I just have no clue what it is….

    ?????????(.> It’s been a while)
