WordPress 2.7

…is not out yet, but there are some features I’m looking forward to. You can find a complete list at the WP Development Updates, but I’m just going to list the ones that I like:
- New admin panel layout with better menus and navigation. Hopefully it’ll be something like what the Lighter Menus plugin does.
- Dragging and dropping of boxes in the write/edit pages. You can also remove those boxes now, in addition to collapsing and expanding them. Yay :]
- Inline editing of post and pages on your site’s pages. Yay for less clicking and convenience.
- Reply to comments from admin. I’m guessing it’ll be somewhat similar to what Better Comment Manager does.
- Threaded comments!
- Sticky posts. Again, one less plugin we need to install.
- Automatic upgrade of WordPress. This could be a good or bad, since there are files I have changed (like functions.php) that I don’t feel like re-doing each time I upgrade.
Overall I’m looking forward to 2.7 coming out, but it’s nothing I can’t wait for. What about you guys? Any particular features (that I listed or you found on the Dev Updates) that you’re looking forward to?

Another upgrade again?! Geez I HATE upgrading WP. I skipped 2.4 and 2.5. At least the threaded comments is something to look forward to. =)

This looks like it’s going to be a better update for sure!! Embeded thread comments is going to work wonders, I will definitely enjoy that… but hopefully it is not hard to customize as right now I am using that plugin already.
Would you like to exchange links? I would like to add your link on my site.

@ Katy: Well, I have no idea when 2.7 is coming out, but I’m not looking forward to the upgrading part either. I tend to overwrite my edited files, causing myself more trouble -_-. But yay for threaded comments!
@ Destiny: It’s about time they included the threaded comments feature! I tried the plugin before, and I agree, a pain in the butt to customize. I’d love to exchange links with you. Adding it right now c:

I tried the comment thread plugin too, and don’t really care for it. My question is, will the original commenter be notified of the reply? I think it’s only useful if it does that, really. Especially with sites I only go to for despair, or random clicking that I might not get back to again without a reminder/response…

Jem says:
I hope the threaded comments *is* in 2.7, and I hope it’s released soon. It does my head in to have to reply further down leaving original comments and replies detached and all poopy looking. Sure, I could install the proper plugin, but I’m lazy :p
fyi: on the front page when I clicked ‘comment’ under the entry, it didn’t go anywhere – you need the full URL in the comment link, not just #

@ Mab: It would be nice if the commenter could be notified of replies, but I don’t think it’ll be included in 2.7
@ Jem: Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that 2.7 won’t disappoint us! I don’t like detached, poopy looking replies to comments either D:
Thanks for the notice, I’ve fixed it now!

As much as i love wordpress, the constant upgrades drive me mental – it seems as though as soon as I finish one upgrade another is released.
Hopefully the automatic upgrade option will save some time

@ Siobhan:
I know what you mean. I can’t remember the number of times when I accidentally overwrote my edited files when I upgrade, only to have to re-edit them all over again. This actually makes me feel a little iffy about using the automatic upgrade option… D:

@ Tina:
Thank you
Kudos to the sushi vector artist for the wonderful work!
